An improved refrigeration system brings energy savings to growers
This case study by Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CFEC) looks at how Nightingale Bros, an apple and chestnut grower based in Wandiligong, Victoria, was able to save on their energy bills by replacing its old refrigeration system with an ammonia water-cooled central plant that was fitted with smart controls to improve energy efficiency.
Through the Commonwealth Bank's Energy Efficient Loan product, Nightingle Bros were able to carry out the $1.2 million upgrade. This system can reduce carbon emissions and has the potential to cut energy costs by up to 40%.
